Straight razors were introduced during 1680s, and were still popular up to the 1950's, although an invention in 1901 by a certain King Camp Gillette safety razor spelt their demise. Safety razors stamped and mass produced at a fraction of the cost meat that use of straight razor starts dwindling down and consumer went in favor of use and dispose lifestyle. With straight razors making a comeback, few Straight razors brands are still in production e.g Dovo, Boker, Ralf Aust, Thiers Issard with starting higher starting price and custom razors start from $500. Vintage straight razors are a good place to begin straight razor journey, with great quality steel at a good price. There isnt much more to say other than these razors survived the test of time and still whiskers cutting sharp after 50-100 years after production. Who knows if men are just fed up with paying through the nose for a bit of cheap steel set in plastic that gets thrown away after a few days or if the desire to be macho is rearing its head once more? Let's face it, if scraping off your stubble with three inches of unguarded, horribly sharp steel isn't macho, we don't know what is! There's no doubt that more and more men are now using straight razors for their everyday shave.

This is a vintage Solingen-made straight razor in mint NOS condition.

J.A. Henckels, founded by Peter Henckels started in 1731 as a knife making company which still exist today. By 1900, the straight razor had reached its final evolution. The hollow grind reached its zenith with J.A. Henckels offerings. The conclusion of the straight razor came about because of Gillette and their ruthless advertising campaign which stopped the straight razor and brought on an age of consumerism and a new "throw-away" society.
Absolutehone comments: beautiful razor with white ivory colored plastic scale, very nice shave & stainless steel for easier maintenance. Although its stainless steel doesnt mean it is un-rustable, care shall be taken as well to keep it dry and oiled for long term storage.

Only one in available, J.A HENKELS does not produce straight razors anymore. You can now own a piece of great tool from the 1900s!
